To those opposed to the work I do...
Hi, thanks for stopping by my site! Unfortunately, due to the vile and hateful comments (including death threats) that I have received recently, I made the choice to suspend the use of the CONTACT ME button. So, if you were stopping by to send me a hate-filled message, it looks like you'll now have a few extra moments to find peace and love in your heart instead.
There have been many, many articles written recently that mention my name. Until recently none of these other articles truly depicted who I am or what I do. Previous articles failed to mention that I have spent my entire career fighting for marginalized groups, including people of color, religious minorities, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ youth, etc. None of these articles mentioned the days and days I've devoted to helping school communities heal after the death of a student or staff member. I have yet to see an article that highlights the time I put into supporting children with disabilities or the volunteer hours I've racked up with Special Olympics. I'm still looking for an article that emphasizes the important work I'm doing in the field of trauma-informed care or with victims of abuse and violence. And there certainly was no mention of my Highly Effective professional evaluations or the fact that my peers voted me "District Office Teacher of the Year" this school year.
The work I do is important. It is LIFE-CHANGING and LIFE-SAVING. If you have enough time to stop by my site to let me know that you oppose the work I'm doing, then I would challenge you to instead spend your time volunteering at a homeless shelter or transporting disabled veterans or petting animals at a shelter or dropping off toiletries to domestic violence shelters or quilting soft blankets for cancer patients or purchasing preemie clothing for babies in the NICU, etc.
We only have one life to live.
I wish you peace and love and hope that you're proud of the person you are and the support you're providing to others!
