Gender & Sexuality Alliances

GSA Network is a next-generation LGBTQ racial and gender justice organization that empowers and trains queer, trans and allied youth leaders to advocate, organize, and mobilize an intersectional movement for safer schools and healthier communities.

This guide is for new and already-established Gay-Straight Alliances (GSAs) or similar clubs. Learn how to establish or re-establish your group, identify your mission and goals, and assess your school's climate.  Additional GSA resources from GLSEN can be found here:  https://www.glsen.org/gsa

The Safe Schools Coalition provides a variety of resources, including FAQ's, legal rights to form a GSA, additional website links, etc.

Live Out Loud has done the work for you!  Their site provides activities, discussions, and advice on planning community actions that promote LGBT awareness.  They also have a GSA Road Map full of tips and strategies to help you run an active and successful GSA.

In addition to FAQ's and advice/suggestions for creating a GSA, the ACLU has also created a brief 2-page document with tips for forming a GSA in your school.
